Jersey captain eyes fitness boost

Cricket in Guernsey

Jersey's new cricket captain thinks the two weekend matches with Guernsey could set the tone for the coming season.

Jersey skipper Ryan Driver is hoping to shake off a back injury in time to be able to captain the side.

"It should be OK and fingers crossed I'll be fully fit for Saturday and Sunday," Driver told BBC Radio Jersey.

"It's always a big game when we're playing against Guernsey. We want to get into winning habits and put up a good performance."

The matches are Jersey's final warm-up games ahead of the new cricket season.

Both matches are being played at Grainville and start at 1100 BST.
