Jersey's cricketers now have a new coach

The Jersey Cricket Board have unveiled Australian Craig Hogan as their new head coach.

Hogan, from Albury in New South Wales, has more than 25 years coaching experience and beat 27 other applicants to the job.

Hogan coached Jersey opening batsman Peter Gough at East Albury Cricket Club last season and arrives in Jersey next week on a two-year contract.

Jersey have been without a coach since October 2008 when Peter Kirsten quit.

The South African left during the World Cricket League Division Four tournament in Tanzania and Hogan's arrival comes at a busy time, with three youth tournaments this summer and the possibility of three senior and three youth tournaments in 2010.

Director of cricket for the Jersey Cricket Board, Chris Minty, said: "We're delighted that he has accepted the post and look forward to Hogan playing a major role in Jersey's development as a cricket nation."
