Calne Cricket Club has been chosen as a focus club by the England and Wales Cricket Board to host Cricket Force.

The event encourages clubs to give their grounds a pre-season makeover and England bowler Chris Tremlett will be at the event on Saturday, 4 April.

The new Beversbrook facility is one of five chosen from 1,100 across the UK.

Project manager Steve Richards told BBC Radio Wiltshire: "To be one of the five is a big thing for the town, the club and the Wiltshire Cricket Board."

In addition to Hampshire bowler Tremlett, Caroline Atkins and Anya Shrubsole, who helped England's Women to World Cup glory in Australia, will also be pitching in as the club puts the finishing touches to their ground ahead of the new season.

Calne are in the gradual process of moving from their existing town centre ground to the new Beversbrook site which will be home to other sports teams as well.

Richards added: "We need plenty of bodies who are willing to muck in and give an hour or two hours or a whole day.

"There's lots to get involved with and they can be part of something that will be a real big occasion."
