Rushden consolidated their position in the top half of the Blue Square Premier with a win over Salisbury.

Diamonds were two goals to the good at half-time after strikes from Chris Hope and Neil Cousins.

Hope headed in Andrew Burgess' corner on the half hour and Cousins doubled the lead from close range after a Michael Rankine mishit.

Djoumin Sangare gave Rushden a nervous last four minutes when he smashed home Salisbury's consolation goal.
