Kent won the 2007 Twenty20 Cup, but have two ICL players

Kent captain Rob Key is not convinced the Spitfires will get to play in the new Twenty20 Champions League, even though they have qualified.

Kent earned their place in the lucrative competition after reaching the final of the Twenty20 Cup.

But organisers have banned sides with players from the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) - of which Kent have two.

"Until I get some plane tickets and they say this is it, I could not care," Key told BBC Radio Kent.

"I mean it changes everyday. It wasn't so long again that no ICL players were going to be able to play county cricket, yet they're now playing county cricket.

"Then no-one with an ICL player is going to be able to play them [in the Champions League] - we've got two of them in Mahmood and Kemp. Then not even the team is going to be allowed to play in it.

"It's like the wind, it just keeps changing so there's not too many of our boys too fussed about it. All these extras are just massive bonuses and no-one's booking Ferraris and stuff like that at the minute."

Middlesex - who beat Kent in the Twenty20 final - are in the clear, but Kent have Azhar Mahmood and Justin Kemp, who have played in the ICL.

However, the chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board David Collier has told the BBC he believes a compromise can be made.
