Kent have offered refunds to fans after their Pro40 match with Leicestershire was abandoned due to wind. The game was called off six overs into Leicestershire's reply because the wind was too strong for the ground's floodlights to be turned on. Fans had complained that the number of overs was not reduced. But chief executive Paul Millman told BBC Radio Kent: "We play in a 40 over league and we can't suddenly say it's a twenty over match." He added: "Our 40 overs were played out in the hope the other 40 overs were playable and sadly that has not been the case. | We had a fair idea that was going to happen, it's a shame as we were in a decent position at the time |
"It's a weather induced issue, it's normally rain that brings these things to a conclusion. "It's not good for cricket, I am very sympathetic, it's unprecedented and I hope it's not something that will happen again." Captain Rob Key added: "We had a fair idea that was going to happen, it's a shame as we were in a decent position at the time." Kent have asked anyone who would like a refund to send a stamped addressed envelope with their ticket to the club.
