Skipper Carl Rogers made just one as Norfolk slumped to 12-6 |
Norfolk's batsmen capitulated on the opening day of their latest Minor Counties Championship match with Bedfordshire at Manor Park. Will Sneath produced a brilliant spell of 5-7 to reduce Norfolk to 12-6 in reply to Bedfordshire's 343-6 declared. By the close the home side had reached 36-6, still 307 runs behind and facing a fight to avoid the follow on. Bedfordshire had earlier posted 224 for their first wicket, the highest ever Championship partnership at the ground. Norfolk captain Carl Rogers told BBC Radio Norfolk it had been a dismal performance by his side. "From a personal point of view I think it was one of the worst days I have ever had on a cricket field," said Rogers, whose side were comfortably beaten by Cumberland just four days earlier. "We came in from fielding and I said to the lads they'd stuck at it well, but to go out and be in that position was unbelievable really." Norfolk were only one place off the bottom of the Minor Counties Eastern Division going into the match, while Bedfordshire were just one place and seven points better off. BBC Radio Norfolk will have hourly updates on day two of Norfolk v Bedfordshire.
