Norfolk's hopes of final are over

Norfolk's hopes of playing at Lord's ended with Sunday's 52-run defeat to Devon in the semi-finals of the MCCA Trophy at Manor Park.

Devon were all out for 190 in their 50 overs after winning the toss.

Skipper Bob Dawson top scored with 77, while Norfolk captain Carl Rogers took 5-30 with the ball.

Norfolk's run chase started badly after they slumped to 10-3 and, although 18-year-old Jaik Mickleburgh made a superb 75, they were bowled out for 138.

Devon will play Berkshire in the final at Lord's on Wednesday 6 August.

Carl Rogers admitted to BBC Radio Norfolk that his side had blown a great chance of getting to the sport's most famous venue.

"When we came in at the halfway stage with 190 to get we thought we were in the box seat.

"I mean 190 is not a big total. You can soon put a hole in it if you can have four or five good overs.

"Jaik was knocking it around in the middle and, if someone had just stayed with him and got 30, it would have been close."
