Devon batsman Neil Bettis hit a second innings 120 as his side's Minor Counties Championship match with Dorset ended in an inevitable draw. After a first day badly affected by rain, Devon made 287 in their first innings, with Dorset posting 185-8 declared in reply. Ian Bishop took 3-29 for Devon, while Darren Cowley struck 82 for Dorset. Devon were 23-3 in their second innings at one point before Bettis steadied the ship as they closed on 276-8. David Lye chipped in with a timely 56 as he and Bettis put on 88 for the fourth wicket. The result means Devon are sixth in the Minor Counties Championship Western division, 19 points behind leaders Cheshire. Dorset stay second, 10 points behind the north west county.
