Devon beat Cornwall by 85 runs on Sunday to progress to the knockout stages of this year's MCCA Trophy. Devon won the toss and batted first. David Lye top-scored with 52 and shared a 55-run fourth wicket stand with David Court as Devon ended on 229 for 9. In reply Devon fast bowler Neil Hancock was the hero taking four wickets in 17 balls as he tore through the Cornish middle order. He finished with figures of 4-24 as Cornwall were 144 all out. Devon finish second in group three of the MCCA Trophy behind Berkshire while Cornwall end their campaign in third place. It means Devon are just two matches away from a Lord's final. The last time they reached that stage of the tournament was in 2001 when they lost to Norfolk.
