Cornwall edged past Herefordshire right at the death in their MCCA Trophy group match at Hereford. Cornwall won by five runs after bowling out the home side with three balls left in their innings. Batting first, Cornwall scored 253 for 6 with Chris Hunkin making 100 not out and Alex Smeeth scoring 39. There were two run outs in the final over as Herefordshire tried desperately to get the winning runs before falling agonisingly short at 248 all out. Cornwall are joint-top of group three of the MCCA Trophy with two wins from three games. They clash with big rivals Devon in their final match at St Just on Sunday 1 June in a game which could decide who will win the group.
