Cobo and Wanderers stay unbeaten

Cricket

Cobo and Wanderers remain unbeaten at the top of the Guernsey Cricket Championship after both recorded big wins at the weekend.

Cobo thrashed Argyll Investments by 10 wickets at the KGV on Sunday. Jamie Nussbaumer took 7-19 as Argyll were bowled out for just 55.

Cobo achieved their required runs in just 10 overs to secure maximum points.

On Saturday Wanderers made it three wins out of three as they beat bottom side Optimists by eight wickets.

Optis scored just 105-9 in their 45 overs with Mark Clapham top scoring on 34 as Pierre Moody took 3-25.

In reply Wanderers raced to victory by eight wickets with 23 overs to spare as Australian Ben Taylor smashed an unbeaten 57 including four big sixes.

Finally at Port Soif Elizabeth College got their first win of the season as they beat Rovers by 7 wickets.

Rovers looked to be on for a big score as GH Smit and Stuart Bisson put on a good third-wicket partnership.

But after Smit and Bisson were dismissed for 46 and 37 respectively the wickets tumbled quickly as Rovers were reduced to 162 all out.

Jake Le Marchant was the pick of the College bowlers with 3-37

Despite losing three early wickets the College steadied the ship thanks in part to Tim Ravenscroft's unbeaten 73. He put on a winning fourth wicket partnership with Jonny Clark (50 not out) to steer the schoolboys home with seven wickets and three overs to spare.
