Guernsey can strengthen their case for ICC associate membership |
Guernsey will play 2003 World Cup semi-finalists Kenya in a one-day game at Hove in July. The 50-over friendly on 24 July will be part of the island's preparations for hosting the ICC European Second Division tournament in August. The match could also help Guernsey's bid to become ICC associate members. It will be the first time either Channel Island side has played a team that has beaten an ICC full member in a one-day game. The fixture was arranged after the chairman of Cricket Kenya, Samir Inamdar, visited the island as part of the ICC's inspection team earlier this month. Kenya will be in the UK preparing for the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup qualifiers being contested in Ireland the following week. Guernsey were already scheduled to play Sussex Academy at Hove on 25 July and a Sussex Premier League XI at Sterlands Ground, Chichester, on 27 July as part of their preparation for August's tournament.
