Mudassar Nazar will be Kenya's coach in the new regime |
Kenya's Sports Ministry has announced the formation of a new governing body for cricket to try to draw a line under the chaos surrounding the sport there. Officials said Cricket Kenya would take over from the disbanded Kenya Cricket Association with immediate effect.
However, the new organisation awaits official acknowledgement from the International Cricket Council.
And former KCA chairman Sharad Ghai complained that the move to register Cricket Kenya was "unconstitutional".
Kenya's Minister for Sport, Ochilo Ayacko, has installed an 11-man interim committee to run the game initially.
Former Pakistani Test batsman Mudassar Nazar will coach the squad and Isaac Kalua has been named as acting chairman of Cricket Kenya.
Their immediate task is to select and prepare a team for the Intercontinental Cup qualifying round match against Namibia.
That match was originally scheduled to start on 25 February in Windhoek but has now been postponed.

ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed said the decision came in the light of the "current litigation and uncertainty concerning the governance of cricket in Kenya."
He added that the match would be rescheduled "at the earliest opportunity".
The KCA was disbanded in January following allegations that it was misusing its funds.
A group of leading players refused to play for the national team while the KCA was in charge because of contractual differences.
And Englishman Andy Moles, the former Warwickshire player, quit as coach.
Ayacko said: "Under the mismanagement of the KCA, the game has been bedeviled with internal wrangles, corruption and misappropriation of funds.
"This has led to disillusionment among the players and other stakeholders who have boycotted playing for the country and supporting cricket activities."
