Tikolo says his side are starved of top-level experience |
Kenya's Steve Tikolo has launched an attack on world cricket's governing body, saying the 2003 World Cup semi-finalists have been shown no respect. "You need to play more to keep up with the best. With a lack of games Kenya's future doesn't look good," he said.
Asked who was to blame he said: "It's the ICC because they're the guardians of the game all over the world.
"They're talking about globalising the game but what they're doing to Kenya does not point to that."
Kenya reached the World Cup's final four by beating Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe and took points after New Zealand forfeited a game in Nairobi.
But a late invite to a tournament in Sharjah straight afterwards was the last time they played one-day international cricket.
"Our last tournament was last year in April - that's about 17 months without a single one-dayer," said Tikolo, whose side played recent home series against Pakistan A and India A.
"We really feel disappointed. We're not getting any respect."
"We would like to see tours coming to Kenya, Kenya touring outside. There are triangular [tournaments] going on - Kenya's not being invited."
Unlike USA, Kenya did not have to qualify for this tournament because the ICC has given them one-day international status.
But Tikolo added: "If we're not going to play one-dayers then the status is useless."
