One-day warm-up, Derby: New Zealand 258-7 lost to Derbyshire 259-6 by four wickets
Hassan Adnan ensured New Zealand's path to the NatWest Series would not be a clear one as his century inspired Derbyshire to a four wicket-win.
Adnan struck 113 off as many balls as the county outfit chased New Zealand's 258-7 with eight balls to spare.
He struck 10 fours and a six, putting on 100 runs with Luke Sutton (41) in a crucial fourth-wicket stand.
Adnan's knock overshadowed Kiwi skipper Stephen Fleming, who carried on his good form with 102 off 123 balls.
Fleming overcame the early losses of Nathan Astle and Hamish Marshall for single-figure scores to form solid partnerships with Scott Styris (56) and Craig McMillan (43).
Daryl Tuffey (1-43) and Ian Butler (2-54) combined to reduce Derbyshire to 90-3 in reply, but Adnan and Sutton soon took control.
Adnan stood firm after James Franklin (2-46) removed Sutton to deny New Zealand a morale-boosting victory.
