Late rally by Bangladesh
Second Test, Jamaica, day one (close):
Bangladesh 264-9 v West Indies

Bangladesh lost three wickets during the Windies' initial assault
Bangladesh recovered from 75-3 at lunch to close the first day of the second Test against the West Indies on 264-9.

After choosing to bat, the signs were not good when they lost Hannan Sarkar to the opening ball of the match, and things barely improved after lunch.

But Khaled Mashud and Mohammad Rafique staged a late revival, as 119 runs were put on after tea to revive their hopes and add to Brian Lara's worries.

The West Indies captain says he will step down if they fail to win the game.

When Hannan went to the opening ball, the home side must have thought their luck was in, and captain Habibul Bashar sailed close to the wind before top-edging to Omari Banks for 20.

Javed Omar was the next to go, for the same score, as Bangladesh looked in serious trouble at the lunch interval.

By tea, things had not improved much, with score having limped along to 145-6, before the late rally by the lower orders.

Tapash Baisya (34) and Tariq Aziz (4) were the men at the crease when play ended for the day.

Banks was the most productive West Indies bowler, claiming 4-80 off 29 overs, including the wicket of top scorer Rajin Saleh (47).

Pedro Collins and Fidel Edwards each claimed two wickets, with Tino Best the other wicket taker.
