Iqbal sinks Zimbabwe
Grant Flower
Flower's century was not enough for Zimbabwe
4th ODI, Harare: Zimbabwe 210 (49.5 overs) lost to Pakistan 211-2 (35.4 overs) by eight wickets

Faisal Iqbal scored his maiden international century as Pakistan sped to a 4-0 series lead over Zimbabwe in Harare.

Set 211 to win after a Grant Flower century propped up poor home batting, Pakistan lost just two wickets before sealing an easy win in the 36th over.

Twenty-year-old Iqbal hit three sixes and nine fours and was left unbeaten on 100, scraping his century in the nick of time as the finishing line loomed.

It leaves Zimbabwe staring at a series whitewash when the final match takes place at the same venue on Sunday.

Iqbal was promoted to open the batting for the first time in his fledgling six-match career.

He and 'keeper Kamran Akmal got Pakistan's run-chase off to a flying start, racing to 58 in the eight over before the latter was caught behind for 44 off the bowling of Douglas Hondo.

Blip

But the loss was a just a blip, and a 151-run stand for the second wicket took Pakistan to within two runs of victory when Younis Khan was run out for 56.

Misbah-ul-Haq fended off three balls without scoring, allowing Iqbal to secure the single the following over that gave him his first century.

Flower earlier hit a brave century as only one other batsman in the side managed to reach double figures.

Zimbabwe were 41 for six at one point before Flower finally found a partner to hang around in the shape of Travis Friend (48).

Together the pair put on 82, although it was only in partnership with last man Hondo that Flower was able to take the score past 200.

He finished on 105 not out with Hondo falling to Saqlain Mushtaq off the second last ball of the innings.

Mohammad Sami was the chief destroyer of Zimbabwe's upper order, claiming excellent figures of four for 41.

He removed captain Alistair Campbell and Andy Flower for ducks in the space of one over.

With the series theirs, Pakistan rested several players and were captained by Inzamam-ul-Haq.
