Clean sweep for Sri Lanka
Second Test, Colombo: Sri Lanka 373 & 263-2 dec beat Bangladesh 164 & 184 by 288 runs

Sri Lanka wrapped up a 2-0 series win against Bangladesh in Colombo on Wednesday, after winning the second Test by 288 runs.

Needing 473 runs to gain an unlikely victory, Bangladesh, who started the fourth day on 103-4, were bowled out for 184 just before lunch.

Thilan Samaraweera
Samaraweera took a career-best 4-49
Bangladesh youngster Mohammad Ashraful, who scored 114 against Sri Lanka last year, compiled a determined 75.

But his efforts were in vain as his side lost their last five wickets for 17 runs, with Sujeewa de Silva and off-spinner Thilan Samaraweera claiming four wickets apiece.

It was Sri Lanka's 10th successive Test victory at home since September 2001, including 3-0 sweeps overs the West Indies and Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh, resuming at 103-4, offered resistance only in the opening hour as overnight batsmen Ashraful and debutant Alok Kapali extended their fifth-wicket stand to 68.

The 25-year-old Samaraweera, who had taken just five wickets in his previous nine Tests, began the slide when he had Kapali caught bat-pad by Jehan Mubarak at short-leg for 23.

The spinner struck a vital blow in his next over when he had the well-set Ashraful caught by close-in fielder Mubarak.

Ashraful struck 12 fours in his 120-ball knock.

The two sides now meet in three one-day internationals, the first on Monday.
