Alex Hedges was happy to finish 19th in the men's individual all-around gymnastics final at the Indira Ghandi Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Having made the final in Melbourne four years ago, the 24-year-old came to Delhi determined to repeat the feat.

Hedges qualified in 21st position and was delighted to eventually finish two places higher than he started.

"It was fantastic today. I was able to relax and really enjoy the whole experience," he said.

"I am doing harder routines than in Melbourne, and every piece was clean today. No mistakes and it went really well."

Team manager Haresh Measuria, added: "He's achieved all his ambitions for Delhi and put in a real 'captain's innings'."

England's Luke Folwell took gold ahead of team-mate Reiss Beckford.
