Aalin George set an unofficial Manx Record on Monday |
The Manx archery team were all knocked out of the individual compound event at the first knock-out stage. On Monday, Aalin George set a new Manx record of 670 points in the seeding round but was narrowly beaten by Australian Cassie McCall. The 14-year-old said: "I did my best and that's all I can do." Sarah Rigby was beaten by the number five seed Tracey McGowan from Scotland, whilst Adrian Bruce lost to another Scot, Kyle Dods in the men's event. The Manx trio are the first archers from the island to compete at the Commonwealth Games. Bruce said: "It's been a great experience and a real privilege to be able to compete at this level. "It would be fantastic to see archery feature in the Commonwealth Games in the future." Team Manager Peter Mumford added: "I am disappointed for the three of them, but not disappointed in the way they have conducted themselves and performed. "It has been the biggest competition of their lives, so far."
