Seven Irish boxers are now one win away from clinching medals at the European Amateur Championships in Moscow.

Derry man Tyrone McCullagh, John Joe Nevin and Eric Donovan were the latest Irishmen to win quarter-final places on Monday afternoon.

McCullagh made a sparkling major championship debut as he defeated Moldovan Petr Apostol 13-2.

Olympic bronze medallist Paddy Barnes progressed to the light-fly quarter-finals on Saturday.

World bronze medallist Nevin beat France's Nourdine Ait Ihya 6-1 while Eric Donovan eased past Ukraine's Dimitry Bulenkov 10-2.

However, Mayo youngster Roy Moylette suffered a heartbreaking double countback defeat after his bout with Germany's David Mueller had finished 5-5.

Beijing silver medallist Kenny Egan, Darren O'Neill and John Joe Joyce progressed to the quarter-finals in their divisions on Sunday.

Barnes comfortably outpointed Hungarian Istvan Lakatos 12-4 on Saturday and will box for another medal on Wednesday.

Light-heavyweight Egan after his 3-2 win over Italian Simone Fiori on Saturday produced a dominant display to beat Albania's Alexsander Ramo 15-2 on Sunday.

Middleweight Darren O'Neill defeated England's Anthony Ogogo 10-1 while John Joe Joyce defeated Bulgarian Evgeniy Borisov 11-1.

Donovan had eased past Denmark's Rashid Kassem 10-2 on Sunday but fly-weight Declan Geraghty was beaten 9-2 by Azerbaijan's Magomed Abdulhamidov.
