Brook camp wants world title shot

Sheffield boxer Kell Brook.
Brook first won the British welterweight title in June 2008

Sheffield boxer Kell Brook could be in line for a world title fight within the next 12 months, if trainer Dominic Ingle's plans come to fruition.

The 23-year-old successfully defended his British welterweight title against Michael Lomax in Manchester on Saturday, to keep his Lonsdale belt.

"We don't want to miss out on the best years of his career," Ingle told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"Hopefully in the next 12 to 24 months we can get him a world title shot."
