Brook has world title ambitions |
British welterweight champion Kell Brook stopped Stuart Elwell in the second round to retain his title at the York Hall in Bethnal Green. Brook had Walsall fighter Elwell down twice in the first round before referee Marcus McDonnell stopped the contest following a good right-hand shot. It was a second successful defence for the 22-year-old from Sheffield. "I've got my eye on Cotto v Michael Jennings next month," said Brook, referring to his world title ambitions. | 606: DEBATE | Briton Jennings is due to fight Miguel Cotto at New York's Madison Square Garden on 21 February for the WBO title. "I thought I delivered a good performance," added Brook. "I think I cut him twice in the first round and I know I hurt him but I kept composed and did the job." Brook won the vacant title against Barrie Jones last summer before his successful defence inside two minutes against former champion Kevin McIntyre in November. McIntyre had earlier been stripped of the belt for being unable to fight Brook because of a back injury.
