Guernsey Boxing Club president Dave Hadlington has said that all involved are extremely excited about Saturday's Channel Island Championships.
The Open Boxing Show at Beau Sejour will be the first inter-island event for 50 years.
Hadlington told BBC Guernsey: "Everyone is extremely excited, it is a good experience for the lads.
Asked why it has been 50 years since the last CI competition he said: "It is difficult to get the boys matched."
Half of the 16 bouts will see Guernsey boxers take on opponents from Jersey while the rest will be between islanders and representatives from a London Select team.
Guernsey's Matt Jennings will top the bill against top British amateur Tony Power.
Jennings was due to fight in both November and January but was unable to find an opponent.
He said he is keen to get back in the ring but knows he is in for a tough test.
"The lads on the mainland are boxing all the time and keep sharp, so they're always on form, whereas we're stuck on an island," said Jennings.
All tickets for the event were sold in less than 20 minutes after some fans queued through the night.
