Anderson was outpunched but managed to turn the bout around |
Kevin Anderson staged a sensational comeback to defeat Young Muttley and add the British welterweight title to his Commonwealth crown on Thursday. Muttley was on top for most of the bout in Birmingham as his fierce left hook paid dividends.
But Scotland's Anderson, 23, turned the fight in his favour with a brilliant left hook of his own in the 10th round.
Muttley tried to recover but Anderson piled on the punches forcing the referee to stop the fight.
"This has been my most difficult encounter of my career," said Anderson.
"Muttley is a very tough fighter and to come back as I did was a great achievement."
Meanwhile, Muttley, 30, conceded a momentary lapse in concentration cost him the bout.
"I tossed the fight away," he said. "I was well on top but
Anderson is a tough opponent and he took his opportunity."
