Harrison in line for unification
By Ben Dirs

Scott Harrison
Scott Harrison is in line for a career-defining fight after defending his WBO featherweight title against Michael Brodie in Manchester.

Promoter Frank Warren has earmarked either featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez or super featherweight legend Marco Antonio Barrera.

And Warren pledged that his Scottish fighter would "certainly get one of the big guys before the end of the year".

Harrison, 27, confirmed that he would be happy to fight in America.

And Jay Larkin, chief of American television network Showtime, said he was keen to match Harrison with Marquez.

"We want to get the best fighters together and a fight between Harrison and Marquez is one we want to see," said Larkin.

Harrison's quick stoppage of Brodie will have helped to improve his stock in the sport after a below-par draw against last opponent Victor Polo.

"I thought it was a cracking fight for American TV and British TV.

"He dug in there because I thought I was going to do it earlier but I had too much power," he said.

"He was going for it because he was at the last-chance saloon but it was only a matter of time because I had prepared really well for this fight.

"I went training in the highlands of Scotland and left my family behind which is a sacrifice you've got to take and I'm not going to stop that.

"You'll need to ask Frank (Warren) and Frank (manager Maloney) what's next but I'm ready for Marquez or Barrera"
