Scott Harrison will make one more mandatory defence of his WBO featherweight crown against Joan Guzman before stepping up a weight. His manager Frank Maloney had urged the 28-year-old to move up to super featherweight following his victory over Nedal Hussein last weekend.
But Maloney said: "Scott is adamant he can still make the weight safely enough to perform at his best against Guzman.
"After, Scott will step up and become a two-weight world champion."
A fight against Guzman, from the Dominican Republic, would be a gamble for Harrison, who Maloney says struggled to make the weight against Hussein.
Guzman, 29, is a former WBO super bantamweight champion and is undefeated in 24 fights.
An all-Scottish match-up against European champion Alex Arthur awaits Harrison at 9st 4lb.
