Magee takes on former world and European title holder Vester |
WBU welterweight champion Eamonn Magee is determined to pick up where he left off when he returns to the ring at the King's Hall, Belfast on Friday. The 34-year-old makes his dramatic comeback against Dane Allan Vester after making a 13-month recovery from a violent street attack in Belfast.
"People will be wondering whether I am back to my best but I will show them I am," said Magee.
"I've come back from a lot and am ready to prove to the world that I'm back."
Magee is making the first defence of his WBU welterweight title, which he won in December 2003.
The Belfast fighter was left needing hospital treatment after suffering a badly-broken leg in the assault.
But Vester, who has moved up from light-welterweight, is planning to wreck Magee's dream comeback on home soil.
"I think I'll be too quick for him and I know that I am a better boxer," said Vester.
"I'll show Magee that on the night. I think I'm going to surprise him.
"I heard that he got badly beaten and it's good that he is back, but he can't be the same. Anyone outside the ring for that long must see a difference."
