Eamonn Magee will fight at the King's Hall on 18 March |
Eamonn Magee is dedicating his return to the ring on 18 March in Belfast to the medics who brought about his recovery from a vicious street assault. WBU welterweight champion Magee will make his comeback at the King's Hall against an as-yet unnamed opponent.
`Terminator' Magee feared his career was over when an attack left him with serious multiple injuries.
"The doctors and nurses did an amazing job. If it was not for them I would not be back in the ring," said Magee.
"I am dedicating this fight to those who helped me to recover.
"I am so thankful to them and now I am back I want to show that I still have a lot to offer and I can be a force at the very top again.
Magee defiantly believes he can go on to have a re-match with WBU light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton, who he floored before losing on points.
"I let Hatton off the hook the last time," said 33-year-old magee.
"First I want to make a couple of defences of my WBU welterweight title.
"I was offered a 10-rounder for the same money on this show but I said no, I want a title defence. If I can do 10 rounds then I can do 12, simple as that."
