Eamonn Magee has not fought since December 2003 |
Belfast's Eamonn Magee is set to return to the ring in his home city on 18 March on a King's Hall bill which could also feature Joe Calzaghe. Magee's career was thought to be over when a gang attack left him with horrendous leg injuries in March 2004.
But he has made a miraculous recovery and plans the first defence of the WBU welterweight title he won back in December 2003.
Including Calzaghe on the bill would mean quite a night for Belfast fans.
Calzaghe is due to defend the WBO super-middleweight title on 18 March but his preferred venue of Cardiff International Arena is not available on that date.
Magee, now 33, has said that, after a couple of defences of the WBU welterweight crown, he could go back to light-welterweight again to fight Junior Witter or Ricky Hatton.
