Jamie Moore will defend his British light middleweight title against David Walker in Manchester on 23 September. Mancunian Moore, 26, won the title from Michael Jones in 2003, before losing it to Jones last year and regaining it from the same opponent last month.
Bermondsey's Walker, 29, is a two-weight Southern Area champion and former European title challenger.
Walker said: "I think this just might be fight of the year. I can't see this being anything other than explosive."
Walker lost a European light middleweight shot against [now IBF champion] Roman Karmazin in 2003 and a loss against Moore could signal the end of his career.
Walker added: "There are going to be no hiding places in that ring.
"We are both heavy handed, very attacking, come-forward fighters who put everything on the line every time we fight.
"Whatever the result, neither of us will come out of this fight thinking we haven't given it our absolute all.
"I have no other option. This is the biggest fight of my life - practically do or die. If I don't win it is going to be very difficult for me to rebuild."
