Junior Witter has revealed his desire to land a genuine world title shot at light welterweight by Christmas. The British, Commonwealth and European champion fights Ukrainian Andreas Kotelnik in Nottingham on 9 July.
And Witter, 31, then expects promoters Mick Hennessy and Oscar de la Hoya to find him a career-defining bout.
"I have to defend my European belt and when that's over, I want a game plan and a genuine world title shot or an eliminator," he told BBC Sport.
Hennessy has come to an arrangement with De la Hoya, one of the most respected boxers in the world, to help promote Witter and Carl Froch in the USA. And Witter says "Golden Boy" De la Hoya is just the man to help his career.
"It's kind of an honour. He's been in the game and has seen the game from a boxer's point of view," said Witter "The Hitter".

"Someone like that having praise of what you are doing right is so much more than someone who has just watched the game for years.
"He's been in the ring, he's taken blows and given blows and he has boxed at such a high level - it's a good feeling.
"De la Hoya says he can deliver with Mick Hennessy and I say 'fine'. I just want it now, not tomorrow."
Witter believes he will be in an even better position for a title tilt if he beats Kotelnik.
"I'm well rated by the IBF, WBC and WBO and I'm fighting the WBA International champion, so I should be in line for any one of them.
"I have no preference - whichever works out first."
But the Briton is taking nothing for granted against Kotelnik.
"He is different to my last opponent Lovemore N'Dou, being tall and upright with a good boxing background," said Witter.
"Kotelnik may be harder to break through, but I'll do what I normally do, find a weakness and see what he brings.
"I think it may be a late stoppage or points. I'm not expecting an early night."
