Magee to rest until May
Brian Magee is to have his cut examined by a plastic surgeon
Brian Magee sustained a cut in the fight against Miguel Jinenez

Belfast boxer Brian Magee will be examined by a plastic surgeon on Tuesday after being cut for the first time in his career at the weekend.

Magee won his 18th successive fight last Saturday when he sucessfully defended his IBO super-middleweight crown.

The champion beat Miguel Jimenez on points in Huddersfield on Saturday but sustained a nasty cut over his left eye which required five stitches.

As a result, Magee is unlikely to fight again until May.

His next target appears to be former WBC champion Glenn Catley from Bristol.

Other possible opponents are World Boxing Federation champion Robin Reid and Commonwealth title holder David Starie.
