Scott Harrison is unmoved at challanger's jibes |
WBO World Featherweight Champion Scott Harrison insists that he will not be drawn into a war of words with challenger Wayne McCullough. Scottish hero Harrison returned home from his training camp in Tenerife ignoring McCullough's attempt to unnerve him before the mouthwatering showdown in Glasgow's Braehead Arena on 22 March.
This will be Harrison's first defence of his crown since winning it in sensational style against Julio Pablo Chacon in October last year.
Belfast's ''Pocket Rocket'', however, will present Harrison with the biggest test of his career.
But the fearsome Cambuslang warrior believes that McCullough is using his big-fight experience in an attempt to knock him off his guard.
''At one time I had respect for McCullough after everything he has achieved in his career like going to Japan to win the World title,'' said Harrison.
The war will be in the ring on the night, and I will come out the winner |
''But following his latest comments I have no respect for him at all.
''I've seen what he's been saying recently and it is talk from a man who knows that this is the last chance in his career.
''From here on I will not be drawn into a war of words with him, the war will be in the ring on the night. And I will come out the winner.''
According to his father and trainer Peter, Harrison has just finished a gruelling six-day conditioning camp at his specially-equipped training camp.
''Scott is in superb condition and we still have four weeks to go until the fight,'' he said.
''I have never seen him so mentally focused. It's like nothing else matters apart from beating McCullough.
''Physically he's so much stronger and quicker than before and this fight will not go the distance if McCullough tries to match Scott blow for blow.''
