After destroying Clifford Etienne in just 49 seconds on Saturday night, Tyson said he needed a couple more fights before he would be ready for a rematch with Lewis.

The Briton handed Tyson an eight-round beating last June, and Freddie Roach agreed that his man needed more ring time to sharpen up.

"Mike was very happy with his performance but knows he can be better," Roche told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek.

"I would like him to have another couple of fights and get sharper. I would hate him to take time off and lose the sharpness he has.

"He is talking about going into Europe before maybe meeting Lewis. But that is not my decision."

Tyson's promoter Gary Shaw has not ruled out the possibility of a June date, although Tyson said immediately after his victory over Etienne that he would not be ready by then.

"We have got to remember Mike has just come out of training and out of the ring. Everyone is popping questions at him," said Shaw.

"A week from now he might have a whole different take on it."

Boxing promoter Don King told Sportsweek that there was a possibility that Lewis might now fight the winner of his "Hard Road to Glory" series.

"Lennox has to give them permission to challenge him. That is the agreement I made with him," said King.

And King said he thought rumours about Lewis retiring without facing Tyson were wide of the mark.

"I think he wants to continue," said King. "He hasn't made up his mind definitely yet, and I don't think Tyson's performance helped him at all (to decide)."
