Wayne McCullough's big showdown with WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison has been agreed.

The Belfast boxer revealed that a deal had been reached between his manager - wife Cheryl - and promoter Frank Warren.

The Celtic showdown is expected to take place in early March, probably in the champion's home town of Glasgow.

It will be McCullough's second attempt to win the WBO featherweight belt, having been outpointed by Prince Naseem Hamed in 1998.

McCullough was at ringside when Harrison won the WBO crown with a comprehensive points win over Julio Pablo Chacon before a sell-out crowd in Glasgow.

"I saw a few weaknesses that night which I know I can exploit. He has not fought anyone of my class before," said McCullough.

The Belfast boxer celebrated an overdue return to his home city with a crunching fourth-round victory over Russian Nikolai Eremeev in November.

Harrison's title win in October saw him join such Scottish greats as Jim Watt and Ken Buchanan.

And his father and coach, Peter Harrison, welcomed the fight with McCullough but acknowledged it will be a stern test for his son.

He said: "We know McCullough is called the 'pocket rocket' and he's a really good fighter.

"He's won the world title before - the WBC super bantamweight title.

"He's mixed with good fighters - he's fought Prince Naseem, Erik Morales - and he's always gone the distance, he's never been stopped.

"So we know he's a good fighter."
