Gerrard broke his previous record which was set in June 2009 |
Peel runner Keith Gerrard has broken his own record for the fastest 5,000m time ever run by a Manx athlete. Gerrard's achievement came at the University of Washington Husky Classic meeting in Seattle. The 24-year old clipped two seconds off his existing record with a time of 14 minutes, 9.31 seconds. One of the island's biggest athletic hopes, Gerrard made his senior international debut for Great Britain in 2009. The Manx runner's previous 5,000m record had remained unbroken since June 2009.
