Wyberton sprinter Bernice Wilson is hoping she has done enough to clinch her place in the Great Britain squad for the European Indoor Championships. Wilson, 26, recently equalled her personal best of 7.26s in the 60 metres to reach the qualifying mark for the championships in Paris in March. She told BBC Lincolnshire: "I don't want to say I'm definitely going but that took me to number one in the UK." "At the moment I've qualified but things can change very quickly." Wilson, who competes for Birchfield Harriers, will have a further chance to stake her claim for a place in the squad at the UK indoor trials and championships in Sheffield on 12/13 February. She is hoping to take her indoor form into the outdoor season later this year and make up for missing out on a place at the Commonwealth Games. "I won the [Commonwealth Games] trials but didn't have the qualifying time, so I was disappointed but I understood why I didn't go," she said. "This year we'll look at my training and preparation differently. My success indoors so far will definitely help so we'll see how it goes."
