Hubbard competes for the Birchfield Harriers Athletics Club

Lincolnshire high jumper Vicki Hubbard has won the English Championships and reached the Commonwealth Games qualification height in the process.

The competition in Gateshead was the first the 21-year-old from Grantham has been involved in since recovering from a virus.

Hubbard told BBC Lincolnshire: "I have only been training again for the past two weeks or so.

"Gateshead was just a see where you are at really, but I made the standard."

She added: "It is now all about staying fit and healthy and hopefully I will be selected.

"Three of us have made the 1.84 standard and England can take three competitors."
