Cornwall's Jemma Simpson has risen to number two in the UK 1500m rankings after a personal best of four minutes, 6.39 seconds in California. The 26-year-old, who represented Great Britain at the 2008 Olympics, finished her latest race at Occidental College in Los Angeles with her fastest run. Simpson's previous best over the distance was 4:10.08, which she set back in 2007. The current UK number one is 20-year-old Stephanie Twell. Both runners will be aiming for a place on the Great Britain team for the European Championship in Barcelona at the end of July.
