Manx face Keswick endurance test

Clague completed the Parish Walk twice in 2008

A strong Manx team will be competing at the inaugural Commonwealth Mountain and Ultra Running Championships which start in Keswick on Thursday.

The opening event will be the 24-hour ultra race held entirely in Fitz Park with Ben Scott and ultra expert Bethany Clague representing the Isle of Man.

In 2008 Clague completed the Parish Walk twice.

On Friday the mountain runners have a 12km uphill race which starts at Fitz Park and ends at the top of Skiddaw.

A 100km race completes the championships on the Saturday.

The Manx team includes top British fell exponent Lloyd Taggart and current Manx champion Simon Skillicorn.
