Michael George strode to victory in near perfect conditions in the Isle of Man End-to-End Walk on Sunday.

George completed the 39.22-mile walk in six hours, 51 minutes and 54 seconds, six minutes ahead of double Parish Walk champion Jock Waddington.

"I was 10 minutes ahead of Jock at Peel, so I knew if I gritted my teeth I could win it," said George.

Vinny Lynch finished third, with Janice Quirk taking seven minutes off the ladies record in fourth.

Quirk's new ladies mark stands at 7:06.45.

In June, Quirk became the fastest women ever to complete the Parish Walk when she finished second in a time of 15:58:35.
