Paul McKee won a world indoor bronze medal in 2003 |
Paul McKee produced encouraging sprint performances in his first outdoor meeting of the season on Saturday. Competing for the Border club in the British League Division 1 meeting, McKee equalled his personal best of 10.72 when taking second in the 100m.
He followed that up with a 200m win in 21.30 run in bad conditions at Watford.
High jumper Caolan Flanagan set a new personal best of 2.10m while in the Premier League meeting at Hendon, Raymond Adams won the 800m in 1:51.64.
McKee was happy with his form which suggested that his recent two weeks of warm-weather training in Tenerife had been time well-spent.
"I may now decide to get another week in abroad later this month," McKee told BBC Sport Interactive.
"There is a meeting taking place near Barcelona on 27 May so I may head over to run a 200m there and get in a bit of training as well."
McKee is likely to run his first outdoor 400m of the year at the British League meeting in Bedford on 3 June.
The 2003 world indoor bronze medallist has been affected by injury and illness over the last three years but after his best winter's training for three years he will be hopeful of making claims for a place at the European Championship in August.
He still holds the Irish 400m record, outdoors and indoors, with times of 45.58 and 45.99.
