Olympic triple jump champion Christian Olsson will miss next month's World Athletics Championships after failing to recover fully from a foot injury. The Swede had ankle surgery in March and last month doctors removed a piece of bone from his right foot.
"Everything looks alright now but that is why I don't want to force anything and take unnecessary risks," said the European, world and Olympic champion.
"I don't want to go to a world championships just to participate."
The Swede added that he was looking forward to next year's World Indoor Championships in Moscow and the European Championships in Gothenburg.
