Sweden's Olympic triple jump champion Christian Olsson could miss the World Championships in August because of a persistent foot injury. Olsson had surgery to solve the problem in March but felt pain again on his return to training earlier this month.
Manager Daniel Wessfeld says the cause of Olsson's discomfort is a mystery.
"He was examined again but it was impossible to discover what was wrong with his foot," said Wessfeld. "I'm afraid all we can do now is wait."
Olsson is the only athlete in history to hold five titles at the same time - world outdoor and indoors, European indoors and outdoors and the Olympic crown.
Also adept at the high jump, he has plans to compete in both at the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006.
