Pair share Golden jackpot
Christian Olsson
Tonique Williams-Darling and Christian Olsson crowned memorable seasons by winning a share of the $1m Golden League jackpot in Berlin on Sunday.

Olympic champions women's 400m star Williams-Darling and triple jumper Olsson were the only two athletes to remain unbeaten in the six-race series.

Swede Olsson completed a clean sweep with a leap of 17.45m, easily beating the USA's Walter Dabis who made 17.21m.

Bahamas runner Williams-Darling also had a comfortable win in 49.07 seconds.

Britain's Donna Fraser's time of 51.08 earned her seventh place in that race.

Elsewhere, Team GB's double Olympic champion Kelly Holmes was pipped into second spot on her return to action in the women's 1500m, while fellow Briton Abi Oyepitan came seventh in the women's 100m with a time of 11.36.

Michael East, who was Team GB's only male individual track finalist in Athens, came home 10th in the men's 1500m in three minutes 36.01.

The Commonwealth champion finished well off the pace set by Paul Korir who led a Kenyan 1-2-3 with a time of 3:32.46.

Another Brit Jo Pavey claimed sixth place in the women's 5000m, finishing behind Ethiopian Berhane Adere and four more African athletes.

Adere, last summer's world champion who missed out on Ethiopia's Olympic squad, won in time of 14:58.89.

Pavey clocked 15:10.92, with team-mate Kathy Butler crossing the line in eighth in 15:14.77.

Another Olympic champion Tatyana Lebedeva underlined her class with a convincing win in the women's long jump.

The Russian's leap of 6.89m put her well clear of her nearest rival and compatriot Irina Simagina who recorded 6.71m in the Olympic Stadium.

Germany's Bianca Kappler took third with 6.42m but twice Olympic champion Heike Drechsler did not make the final.

The 39-year-old could only manage 5.92m in her last outdoor appearance.

German legend Drechsler said: "I'm annoyed I didn't make it.

"I wanted to do well but the conditions were difficult with a strong headwind."

Drechsler, who missed last month's Olympics in Athens because of injury worries, plans to enter two indoor events in the winter before ending her prolific career.

"I have two competitions left," she said. "I hope I can do better there."

Meanwhile, Asafa Powell just edged Frankie Fredericks to win the men's 200m.

Jamaican Powell clocked 20.24 seconds - 0.01 ahead of Namibian star Fredericks.

Lithuania's Virgilijus Alenka won the men's discus with a throw of 68.12m.

Debbie Ferguson, of the Bahamas, secured top honours in the women's 100m in 11.14, while the USA's Joanna Hayes clocked 12.46 to win the women's 100m hurdles ahead of the Ukraine's Olena Krasovska who recorded 12.66.

And Russia's Yelena Slesarenko won the women's high jump with a mark of 2m.
