Nicky Hunt tops the overall standings for the World Cup Grand Final |
Great Britain's performance manager believes his archers are in excellent form ahead of the Commonwealth Games in India in October. Nicky Hunt picked up a second straight World Cup silver medal in the compound event in Turkey on Thursday. And Britain's men's compound team claimed bronze later that evening. "They've made a really solid start to the season, and it all bodes well for the Commonwealth Games," said archery performance manager Barry Eley. Chris White, Duncan Busby and Liam Grimwood beat Holland in the third-placed shoot-off to win Britain's third medal of the World Cup campaign. "It was a great performance by the lads, and another big boost," added Eley. Hunt now tops the overall standings despite losing the gold medal match to Erika Anschutz. And the Suffolk archer is ideally placed to qualify for the World Cup Grand Final in Edinburgh in September. "It proves that I am shooting well and, after qualifying for last year's Grand Final but then missing out on a medal, I am determined to get a second opportunity this year," said Hunt. "From that point of view it's looking good for me."
