Archer Nicky Hunt hopes for fortune in Italy

Nicky Hunt believes the weather conditions could throw up some surprises at the European Target Outdoor Championships in Italy.

The 25-year-old will compete for Team GB as well as individually in the compound discipline, with the tournament culminating on Saturday.

"It's been ever so windy and that can definitely play a factor," she told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"Sometimes it's not about the archer's skill, you can get lucky."

Hunt is in a rich vein of form after taking silver in the first World Cup tournament of the year in early May.

I'll just try to shoot as well as I can this week and see what I end up with

The Ipswich-based archer will have to overcome Denmark's Camilla Soemod, the current world number one, if she is to have a chance of taking gold.

"It's always good to have those big names around, it's always good competition," Hunt added.

"There's some really, really strong competitors here. I'll just try to shoot as well as I can this week and see what I end up with."

The UK number one will kick-off her individual matches on Thursday while the team competition starts on Wednesday.
