One of the most improved players on the Tour, Srichaphan is also a huge favourite with crowds around the world. The talented right-hander has a powerful game and an impressive record on hard courts, all of which should make him a contender at Melbourne Park this year.
Yet his record at the Australian Open is surprisingly poor.
He has won only two matches at the first Grand Slam in four attempts - despite going into last year's event on the back of a title win in Chennai.
But despite that disappointment, the 24-year-old went on to become the first Asian to break into the world's top 10 last year - winning two titles in all and reaching four semi-finals.
Srichaphan, 24, made a name for himself at Wimbledon in 2002 when he put out US star Andre Agassi in the second round and his career has been on an upward spiral ever since.
His achievements have seen him become one of his country's most famous celebrities and he was named Thai of the Year in 2002.
